Introduction

Jose Vega is the founder of the Panama City-based law firm, J. Vega & Asociados. His professional experience comprises protection, defense, transaction of trademarks and other IP rights; anti-counterfeiting actions, business law and legal aspects of free trade zones.

Mr. Vega has assisted the Congress of his country in drafting legislation on IP and other matters, and has taken part in the subsequent legislative debates. He has also performed several governmental capacities.

Mr. Vega has been a speaker at several forums and meetings; among others is the First International Trademark Forum "Protecting Chinese Trademark in the Arab, U.S. and Latin American Regions", held in Beijing, China, on May 2007 and the "First Global Seminar on Trademark Protection for Chinese Enterprises Expanding Abroad" held in Ningbo, China, on June 2008.

Since 2005 Jose Vega is the host of Convergencia, a radio show on politics and economics broadcast by KW Continente. He also hosted a weekly TV show on the Panama Canal expansion project in 2006.

In 2006, Mr. Vega was appointed vice-president of one of the world's largest per-capita charitable fundraisings.
