Patent Buddy offers a host of free patent search and analysis features covering US patent records after 1980.  The site also allows users to search through patent owners, inventors, agents, and technology classes, and some visualization options offer helpful insights into patent ownership trends within specific IPC classes.

A July 2012 update to Engineering Village focuses on making the homepage and search results page more user-friendly and customizable.  The update also adds small but important new features like search terms highlighted in an article and the option to add additional search fields on the Quick Search page.
