On Friday, November 09, 2012, Catch a Wave Technologies (plaintiff) recorded a suit against Sirius XM Radio (defendant) for patent infringement in the U.S. District Court of Northern California (case no. 3:12-cv-05791).

Catch a Wave Technologies (CAWT) is a Delaware company with its principal place of business in Hayward, California. Sirius XM is an American broadcasting company that provides two satellite radio services (SDARS) operating in the United States, Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio.

The patent US7177608 involved in this suit is currently assigned [1] to Catch A Wave Technologies (Source: MaxVal’s Assignment Database). The patent entitled Personal Spectrum Recorder was issued on February 13, 2007 and expires[2] on March 10, 2023.

According to the complaint, the defendant's accused products XMp3, XMp3i and SiriusXM Lynx allegedly infringe the ‘608 patent. These are portable radios. Fig.1, 2 & 3 are pictures of the accused products.
