On Monday, October 15, 2012 Amphenol Corporation and Times Fiber Communications (plaintiffs) launched a suit against PCT International (defendant) for patent infringement in the U.S. District Court of Connecticut (case no. 3:12-cv-01468).
Times Fiber Communication is a subsidiary of Amphenol. They are the manufacturers of fiber optic management equipment and interconnect products for cable television, satellite, data, and powering applications for broadband communications networks. PCT International is a developer and manufacturer of last mile and access network solutions for broadband communication networks.
The patent US7544094 (Paglia patent) involved in this suit is currently assigned* to Amphenol Corporation (source: Maxval’s Assignment Database). The patent entitled Connector Assembly with Gripping Sleeve was issued on June 09, 2009 and expires[i] on December 20, 2027.
According to the complaint, the defendant’s product jumper sleeves infringe the Paglia patent. Jumper Sleeves are used with connector assemblies to facilitate gripping and mating of a connector to its counterpart. Below is a picture of PCT’s Jumper Sleeve.
