Olympic Developments AG filed a case against Microsoft, Nintendo of America, Sony and Valve Corporation claiming their patents relating to e-commerce and online payments were infringed. The patents involved in this suit are:
- US5475585 - Transactional processing system, which was issued on Dec 12, 1995 and expired* by Dec 12, 2012
- US6246400 - Device for controlling remote interactive receiver, which was issued on Jun 12, 2001 and expired* by Oct 01, 2010
The patents are currently assigned[i] to Tugaloo Lavonia GmbH (source: MaxVal’s Assignment Database) and plaintiff is the exclusive licensee of the ‘585 and ‘400 patent. Plaintiff alleged that defendants use a method for purchasing products/services and processing corresponding financial transactions in a manner that is claimed in the ‘585 and ‘400 patents. The plaintiff sought permanent injunction, monetary damages and all other relief to which the Court may deem the plaintiff entitled.
The parties having reached a settlement, filed for dismissal. Considering the request, Court ordered all the claims asserted be dismissed with prejudice.
