Michel, maybe you are right - we should not take this seriously.

But if they get similar expert opinion also from AU, JP and CA patent offices then they are prepared very clever strategy to attack other companies.

Do you have any idea why this patent gets so much attention? Actually there are thousands of software patents. Why this one is different?

Good point! I didn't check the patent family. From Epoline Register Plus you can find https://register.epoline.org/espacenet/application?number=EP0783658... that the application deemed to be withdrawn (non-entry into European phase). But the "Copy of the international preliminary report on patentability" is interesting :o)

Well, the same invention has already published under WIPO application (WO2008021097) and has been granted in Canada (CA2660539) and Austria (AU7284810).

I Think facebook is looking to protect the invention in as many countries and to my interest I would like to see which country rejects this application and why. :)
