On October 3, 2012, Wednesday Wi-LAN (plaintiff) recorded a suit against LG Electronics (defendant) for patent infringement (case no. 1:12-cv-23611) in the U.S. Court of Southern Florida.
Wi-LAN is a company that develops, acquires, and licenses intellectual property that drives products in communications and consumer electronics markets. LG is a company operating its business through five divisions including Mobile Communications, Home Entertainment, Home Appliances, Air Conditioning, and Energy Solutions.
The patent US7034889 is assigned to Wi-LAN and the patent US6359654 is assigned to Conexant Systems, however, Wi-LAN is the exclusive licensee of the ‘654 patent. The details of patents involved are listed below:
